It October of that year OPEC (Oil Producing and Exporting Countries) placed an oil embargo on nations that supported Israel during the Yom Kippur war. It was the same year the Vietnam war ended. It was also the year that the U.S. was experiencing 6.16 percent inflation. Spiro Agnew resigned, and Gerald Ford was appointed as Vice-President. It was a tough year.
